Just days ago, the crew of NASA's Artemis II looked back at our world from the far side of the Moon, and photographed what all of us share but so rarely truly see: one small, luminous home.

From 240,000 miles away, there are no borders, just this extraordinary, fragile planet that gives us everything – the soil, the rain, the bees, the cacao, the cream. Every ingredient in every truffle we make began its life somewhere on this pale blue sphere. We are not separate from nature. We are part of it, and we are its caretakers.
This Earth Day, we want to share a little of what that means to us here in Highland Perthshire, and what Iain and his team are committed to.
The cream in our Velvet Truffles comes from local herds of Scottish Friesian cows, sourced from a local, family-run dairy here in Perthshire that focuses strongly on the welfare of their animals. The honey in some of our recipes comes from a local, small-scale apiarist, supporting the bees that sustain so much of what we eat.
Further afield, Iain and his cocoa providers are committed to the Cocoa Horizons initiative, which ensures practical support for environmental sustainability, community development, and protecting workers. We pay a premium for our rare cocoa from São Tomé, because genuine care for people in cocoa-growing communities is inseparable from care for the planet itself.

And because the land doesn't stop at our doorstep, we donate a portion of our income each year to the Nyimdzi Foundation in Ghana, supporting grassroots education for young people in one of the world's largest cacao-growing nations. All packaging and utensils are either plant-based, compostable or recyclable. And for those nearby, we offer a 10% discount to customers who return their red magnetic box for refilling.
Of course, none of this is perfect, and there is always more to be done. But, as our team looks out the Chocolate Kitchen window here in Grandtully, we are consistently reminded of the staggering beauty of our small and unique planet – so worthy of peace, and the protection of all who dwell here.
The best thing our small chocolatier in Highland Perthshire can do is take that belief seriously with every ingredient, every supplier, every seemingly small decision... and send that care out into the world along with our chocolate.
Happy Earth Day, from our corner of this shared planet to yours.
