Highland Chocolatier Strikes Gold (and Silver!) at International Chocolate Awards

The Highland Chocolatier struck gold again at the International Chocolate Awards, held last weekend at the prestigious ShowColat in Bordeaux, France.  Judging the British Craft Chocolate region, a panel of experts, food journalists, sommeliers and pastry chefs awarded the internationally renowned chocolatier four prestigious accolades, further cementing its status as a leader in artisanal chocolate artistry.

These wins act as a qualifying heat for the global stage, with all winning entries now advancing to the World Finals to compete against the finest chocolatiers on the planet.

The Winning Line-up

The awards recognised both the classic excellence and the innovative spirit of Iain Burnett’s "Velvet Truffle" range:

  • Gold Award: The Ginger Velvet Truffle

  • Silver Award: The White Raspberry & Heather Honey Velvet Truffle

  • Silver Award: The Dark Velvet Truffle

  • Special Award: The "Naked" Truffle (recognised for exceptional craftsmanship and purity)

A Taste of Excellence

Known for using a unique single-origin cocoa from the island of São Tomé and fresh Scottish cream, the Highland Chocolatier continues to shine as a leader in flavour and texture. The Ginger Velvet Truffle’s Gold win highlights the perfect balance of spice and cream, in addition to a Special Award for the Naked Truffle, honouring the technical mastery required to create a truffle of such high quality without a chocolate shell. Of the awards, Iain said:

"Receiving this recognition in a city as gastronomically significant as Bordeaux is a true honour. To have our work recognised by the International Chocolate Awards is a testament to the dedication of our small team in Scotland. We are thrilled to represent British craft chocolate as we head toward the World Finals."
